How to Get Your 15 Minutes of Fame

Do you secretly wish for a moment in life where all eyes are on you?  Where you are in the spotlight? Where you are the center of attention? Do you have hopes of someday having people talk about you, saying  things like “Wow, did you here about what So-and-So did?”

If any of those describe you, I have great news for you. I can help you get your 15 minutes of fame! And best of all it’s really easy, and won’t take some grand plan or long time to develop. Not at all. In fact, you can have it quite easily and as soon as you are ready. You only need three ingredients.

  1. The right location.
  2. The right action.
  3. The right look.

Location, location, location. Pick a location with lots of people. This is key because having people see your actions is necessary for “fame.”

The action choice is also critical. Just standing around won’t draw a crowd, won’t turn all eyes to you, and won’t be any fun. So think of wild behaviors. Dancing, having a mock fight, doing some stunt, interacting with the crowd. Don’t worry you don’t have to have some hidden talent or skill. You don’t have to know how to juggle, do magic tricks, or even tie balloons together into animal shapes. You just have to let go of your inhibitions and pride and do some wild behavior. It could even be a helpful, yet totally unexpected action.

The final ingredient needed is the right look. A fun, attention getting costume is vital to the success of your mission. You can try to pair it up with your location and action, but you certainly don’t have to.

If you want to give people rides on your back, a chicken suit or other animal costume works really well.

If you want to stage a mock fight, then dressing like a superhero or villain is a great idea. Though you could go with something like a Cowboy and an Indian as well, or two pirates. The possibilities are endless.

Personally, today I think I would put on a some superhero costume (Superman, Batman, etc), stand tall on one of the benches on State Street in Santa Barbara, searching the crowd for my evil arch enemy. I might even ask passers by if they’ve seen Joker, Lex Luthor, Catwoman or such. Then I’d have a friend dressed as my nemesis approach and we could stage an awesome chase and fight scene.

So there you have it. If you want your 15 minutes of fame, and you know you do, just do something wild, in public, in a really cool costume.
