December 12th, 2009

NBC New York reports that the global phenomenon that is Santacon is descending upon New York City, and other locations, today – Saturday December12th.

Since anyone and everyone is welcome to join in the mayhem, NBC was kind enough to remind all potential Santaconners of the three basic rules of all Santacon events. The first and most important of which, and the only one I’m going to talk about,  . . .

Spring Break!!!!

April 6th, 2009

You’ve been in the classroom, hitting the books, writing papers, and studying hard. You need a break, don’t’ you? Yeah, we all know you have done nothing but school work since the fall. Not one night off, no bars for you, just nose to the grindstone. Right! If you were that kind of college student, you wouldn’t even know it’s time for Spring Break. You’d be off in the library prepping for your next big research paper.

If you are like most college students, it’s time to head to warmer places where clothes are optional and partying is a must. Where are you heading? Or more importantly – what will you be wearing when you get there?

Do you have you sexy swimwear ready to go? Oh, don’t even tell me you were even slightly considering wearing the same one you wore all summer long. Uh, NO. This is Spring Break, girl. A sexy, flattering bikini is a must! You just happen to be in luck, we carry a huge selection of hot swimwear, perfect for Spring Break.

When you aren’t on the beach or by the pool, there will be parties to grace with your presence.

Sexy Clubwear and Stilettos for your Spring Cruise

March 15th, 2009
Ok, now that you have chosen your swimwear it is time to consider your clubwear and the pumps and high heels to match. For late nite Disco Fun, I would recommend the staple sexy black mini dress paired with some awe inspiring leg enhancing high  heels. If the color red is your thing a slinky red mini dress will do the trick just right. Oh and how about a pair of rhinestone sandals for that extra rich flair.

Viewing Parties

March 11th, 2009

What’s your favorite TV show? The one you will reschedule other events in your life just to watch? The one you look forward to watching all week long?  Are you among the millions American Idol faithful? Can’t get enough of Lost? Are you sure to be found watching the latest episode of Heroes every week? Or maybe it’s one of the newest additions to the TV lineup that has your viewing attention. Something like Life on Mars, maybe?

If you are going to be a big old TV show fanatic, you might as well do it right. I’m thinking that our favorite shows ought to be watched like the sports fans do with their weekly sports. They get together, meet up in front of a big screen television wearing the colors or jerseys of their team, cheer, and make it a group event. Weekly viewing parties, with people just like you, watching your favorite show are totally the way to go. Don’t just wait for the big finale to get together. Have fun every week like this.

Don’t meet up just to watch though. Think of how those sports lovers dress up for the event and follow their model. How about wear your Rock Star or Pop Star best when you get together to watch the newest American Idol contestants strut their stuff. Flashy outfits, lots of sequins, boas, and wild looks is the way to watch that show. Then you will really feel qualified to offer all your criticism.

Dress like Paula and jump and dance when someone gets rockin’ or wear a plain t-shirt and jeans to do your best Simon Cowell impersonation.

For a show like Lost, you could always dress up as one of the characters or you could dress up in some other costume inspired by the show or the characters. Dress all tropical islander, be a doctor like Jack, a conman like Sawyer, or a scientist like many of the Dharma folk. There are so many possibilities here, change it up every week.

Heroes could be one of the funnest shows to dress up for. You could dress like one of the heroes, all in black, as a politician, a policeman, with a big scar across your face like Peter, carrying a Samurai Sword like Hiro, or in a cheerleader costume like Claire. Or you could always step into your nearest phone booth and slip into any superhero costume. You could even wear a classic superhero costume. So what if they aren’t a character on the show? A hero is a hero and any superhero costume is fun to wear!

A Life of Mars viewing party could have a gathering of faithful viewers dressed as cops, detectives, and folks from the 70s. What fun that would be!

Whatever your show, gather your friends, have everyone bring food and drinks, dress up and watch your favorite show together. What a great way to take something ordinary and everyday and make it really fun.

This is the Party that will be all the Rage in 2009

January 19th, 2009

I have the secret inside scoop. So please handle the following highly classified information with extreme care. I can’t give you names and dates – that would put my life in jeopardy – but I can tell you this. Through a bunch of random, serendipitous, and chance meetings, emails, and conversations I have discovered what THE big celebration/party event is for 2009.

Disco Roller Parties will be all the rage in 2009. So if you want to be hipper than hip, the coolest of the cool, on the very cutting edge of all things awesome, make your next party a Disco Roller Party. Rent out a roller rink. Apparently this is quite easy. Hire the roller rink DJ, then either supply the funky 70’s tunes or see if your DJ can dig them up. Get some cool disco party decorations and have your guests wear their best disco, 70’s or 80’s outfits.

When your friends arrive whether wearing their flared pants, afro wigs, and sequined shirts, or tube tops, short shorts and striped socks, they’ll be ready to get down. Just have the drinks ready and the funky music blasting and the rest will be party history.

Jack-O-Licious

January 3rd, 2009

Love it or hate it, I bet you watched at least some of it. The Rose Parade takes over television sets across America on the first day of every year. It wouldn’t be a new year without it. There’s always something in the parade for everyone. Personally, I take the marching bands and equestrian processions as my time to visit the bathroom. There are two things that I really like – really creative floats and totally cool costumes.

The Jack-O-licious float got my attention. It had the big (headed) man himself, Jack, in the middle of a floating Disco Party. Perfect for the New Year since disco parties are such a popular theme for New Year’s Eve parties. You had to just love Jack’s band, looking all Saturday Night Live-ish! This is the ultimate disco suit - it says shake your groove-thang like no other. Next time you are heading for a disco theme party, keep the Jack-O-Licious float in mind. Dress yourself up in a disco suit, in a glitter shirt, or a wild disco dress and you’ll be ready to go.
