Believe it or not, Summer Solstice is right around the corner. And for those of you here in Santa Barbara, you know it is the biggest celebration of the year! The Solstice parade is the largest and most colorful and entirely entertaining display of individual creativity and costume style.

Every year, people flock to Scavenge (now in the Funk Zone) for their costumes and accessories.  In the parade, everyone has a unique flair, so no two people are ever dressed the same.

This years theme is “Splash”.  This will be interpreted differently by each participant and the result will be colorful displays of imaginations run wild.

One thing is for certain, the Solstice Parade promises to once again be the highlight of the year in Santa Barbara.  People come from all over to participate in this event.  No matter how far away you are, you have time to plan your costume and your trip to Santa Barbara.  Just swing by Scavenge to get your last minute costume accessories once you arrive in town.

Popular items that you’ll want to pick up include face paints, petticoats, fairy wings, funky hats, costume wigs and colorful stockings – just to name a few!  Don’t be left out – everyone attending the parade will be dressed up in costume – even those that are there to watch.  In the end, everyone is included in the parade, so dress the part and be in costume!
